1. What do the "S=" and "C=" numbers on the mailing label stand for?
The "S=" number is the source code for that particular catalog.
The "C=" number is your customer number.
2. How did you get my name?
We get customer names through lists we trade with reputable companies. We also advertise in many fine publications, including The New Yorker, The Atlantic, and Harper's. Many of our names come to us as friend referrals.
3. What's a remainder?
When a book is printed, the publisher estimates the demand to determine how many copies will be printed; the publisher does the same thing for any additional printings of the book. The difference between these initial estimates and actual sales of a book are the remainders.

5. Do you carry new books and music?
Yes, we carry some new books and music as well as remainders.
6. What's your shipping and handling?
* Standard Delivery:
Delivery charges for any number of items are $6.95 per delivery to each domestic address.
* Rush Delivery:
U.S. street addresses only. Rush air service (2 business days / 3 business days to Alaska & Hawaii) is available; charges will vary with the weight of the order.
* Overnight Delivery:
U.S. street addresses only. Overnight shipping is available for phone orders only; charges will vary with the weight of the order.
* International Delivery:
Delivery charges are actual cost, which will vary with the weight of the order. All foreign duties and taxes are the customer's responsibility. Please allow 3 to 6 weeks for delivery.
7. Returns
We welcome returns within a 30-day period. When you return a defective compact disc, please provide a detailed description of the defect. If the defective disc is part of a set, contact our Customer Service Department at 1-800-944-8879 or 1-410-309-2706 (9-5 ET weekdays) to see if we can replace the single disc or if we must replace the entire set.
8. How long will it take to get my order?
Usually 7-10 business days for delivery in the continental U.S.
9. Can you ship overseas?
We happily accept international orders. International delivery will be charged at actual cost and will vary with the weight of the order. Please allow 3 to 6 weeks for delivery. Please contact our customer service department for further air service information. All foreign duties and taxes are the customer's responsibility.
10. Where is the name Daedalus from?
Daedalus, whose name can be translated roughly as "cunningly wrought," was the Greek craftsman who constructed the labyrinth of the Minotaur and the wings on which Icarus soared toward the sun. Stephen Dedalus is the protagonist of James Joyce's novels A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man and Ulysses. The two references—one ancient, one modern—encapsulate the range of our interests here at Daedalus.
11. How do you pronounce Daedalus?
Ded ah lus.
12. Do you do book searches?
No.
13. Do you have a bookstore?
Why yes, thanks for asking. We have a warehouse outlet in Columbia, MD.
14. Do you publish books?
Daedalus Books & Music is not a publisher.
15. Do you carry large-print books or audiobooks?
We occasionally carry these types of items.
16. I've made my selections. Why is my shopping cart empty?
This is most likely due to your browser being set not to accept cookies. Or you have declined to allow us to save a file on your computer (a "cookie") which would track your selections for purchase.
17. If I leave the site and return, will it remember me and my shopping cart?
Our site remembers your shopping cart in two ways. First, if a customer is not logged in, a cookie will remember the items they have placed in their cart. Second, if a customer has registered and has logged in, items are transferred out of the cookie and into the customer's "global shopping cart." This new type of shopping cart allows a customer to access their selected items from any computer; with a cookie, a customer can only access their selected items on the computer used to shop. This is one of the many benefits of registering on our site!
18. OK, I added items to my cart, left the site, and then returned--but my shopping cart is empty. What happened?
If you have returned to our site and found no items in your cart, and if you have not registered with the site, this is most likely due to your browser being set not to accept cookies. Check your Privacy setting in your browser. Alternatively, make sure you are shopping from the same computer from which you first added the items. Finally, to use the cookie on your computer, you must be logged into the account you used to first shop on our site.
If you have registered with our site, try logging in. If the items are still not in your shopping cart, then they may have expired. In your My Account page, you can set the number of days until the items expire. When that number of days have passed, the item will be removed from your cart.
19. So you want me to accept "cookies". What are "cookies"?

20. Why is online shopping safe?
We take credit card security very seriously. Orders are transmitted across a Secure Socket Layer (SSL) connection. This ensures that credit card information can be transmitted safely. Credit card numbers, and other data, are encrypted during this transmission, so that they can't be read.
