Sweeping up seven 1944 Academy Awards, and earning a spot on the National Film Preservation Board's registry of culturally significant films, Going My Way is the story of a young parish priest (Bing Crosby) whose new ways of doing things at St. Dominic's don't sit well with crusty old Father Fitzgibbon (Barry Fitzgerald). Fitzgerald was nominated for two Oscars; he won Best Supporting Actor but lost out on Best Actor to his costar Crosby. Holiday Inn is the 1942 musical in which a crooner (Bing Crosby) and a hoofer (Fred Astaire) compete for the same girl, twice (Marjorie Reynolds and Virginia Dale). Irving Berlin's score includes the Oscar-winning "White Christmas."
