The late guitarist and singer Son Seals grew up with the blues. His father owned a club called The Dipsy Doodle in Osceola, presided over by Albert King and Sonny Boy Williamson. "Everything he touches smolders with a slow burn," wrote MusicHound Blues of Seals, calling him "one of Chicago's leading lights, consistently performing with a gritty intensity and deeply rooted sense of groove and fronting tough, hard-driving outfits while brooking nary a wasted note." This 1973 album includes "Mother-in-Law Blues," "Now That I'm Down," "Sitting at My Window," "How Could She Leave Me?" and "Going Home Tomorrow." "Seals wasn't all that far removed from his southern roots at this point, and his slashing guitar work sports a strikingly raw feel on his originals 'Look Now, Baby,' 'Cotton Picking Blues,' and 'Hot Sauce' (the latter a blistering instrumental)."—All Music Guide
