|
|
Maggie Gyllenhaal earned a Golden Globe nomination for her portrayal of a recovering drug addict trying to regain control of her life in this 2006 film. Gyllenhaal plays the title character, Sherry Swanson, who returns home to New Jersey after serving a three-year prison sentence, eager to reestablish a relationship with her young daughter, Lexie (Ryan Simpkins), who has been raised in her absence by Sherry's brother Bobby (Brad William Henke) and his wife Lynette (Bridget Barkan). Sherry soon discovers, however, that coming back to the world she left behind is far more difficult than she had planned.
