"In the century since his birth, there has been no greater composer, American or otherwise, than Edward Kennedy Ellington," wrote Bob Blumenthal in the Boston Globe, and he is far from alone in singling out Duke Ellington (1899–1974) as a "giant among giants" (Gunther Schuller) in American music.

His talent for composing with the orchestra itself, using the eccentric talents of his musicians and collaborating with other songwriters, helped Ellington raise jazz to the level of an art form, and he was honored with an Honorary PhD from the Berklee College of Music, the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, and a posthumous Pulitzer Prize.

We offer a wide selection of music by Ellington and the countless musicians he has inspired, including the remastered edition of his 1976 Grammy Award winner Duke Ellington and His Orchestra: The Ellington Suites and a great collection of Ellington standards. Here too are a DVD with two remarkable Ellington concert films, and Joe Jackson's multifaceted tribute album, in which he wildly reinterprets classic Ellington pieces.
