It seems like most of us have a gripe about the movie adaptations of our favorite books. But honestly, even when every word of the original is faithfully enacted, film and print remain very different experiences; something that reads beautifully might make no sense on-screen, while movies can give us the kind of action, detail, atmosphere, or spectacle that most writers can only suggest. And some adaptations give their sources a second life, inspiring viewers to seek out a book or author they may have overlooked.
