Banished to the countryside for creating too much mayhem, the Bastable children vow to mend their ways, in this 1901 sequel to The Treasure Seekers. Forming the Society of the Wouldbegoods, the kids try to be as good as possible. Despite their best intentions, though, they seem unable to endear themselves to adults; the young Bastables cause a fire and a flood, get held hostage, and find time to purchase a pistol along the way. Trouble, it seems, is never far away for these six siblings.
