There's nothing past tense about the Victorian age, and as this exhibition catalogue proves, it continues to inspire contemporary artists. Much of the material here reflects the Steampunk genre of art, with its fusion of futuristic elements and 19th century design, while other works reflect surrealism and pop art, in such media as graphic design, film, photography, ceramics, taxidermy, furniture, and textiles. Among the highlights are Grayson Perry's cartoons, Tom Gallant's intricate collages, Yinka Shonibare's vibrant sculptures, and Pier Jamson's miniature dioramas, while the book's essays delve into the boundless appeal of the Victorians.
