It would be difficult to compile a set of books for readers 9 to 12 more deserving to be called classics. Collected in a sturdy slipcase, here are attractively designed editions of Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass, Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island, and Kenneth Grahame's Wind in the Willows, as well as The Jungle Book, Peter Pan, Anne of Green Gables, Black Beauty, Robin Hood, The Secret Garden and The Call of the Wild. Most of these books contain original black and white illustrations, courtesy of such artists as John Tenniel, Arthur Rackham, and Walter Crane, while the set includes a fold-out poster as well.
