Paddington finds his talent for gardening keeps him from getting into other sorts of trouble—usually—in this fifth collection of stories, from 1962. The little bear soon runs afoul of his neighbor Mr. Curry, however, who has left him with a tricky bit of lawn work that leads to a ride on a runaway power mower down the Queen's Highway. Mr. Gruber comes to the rescue, and the next day takes Paddington and the Brown children to hear the band in the park, where Paddington becomes quite upset that Mr. Schubert never finished his symphony. Michael Bond's furry refugee in duffle coat and hat has charmed his way into the hearts of children in Britain and around the world—particularly in his original chapter books for readers and listeners up to 11 and fans of all ages.
