FBI Agent Nell Flynn and her father, Homicide Detective Martin Flynn, have never had much of a relationship, and Suffolk County will always be awash in memories of her mother, who was murdered when Nell was seven. When Martin dies, Nell finally returns to the house she grew up in so that she can close his estate. Asked by her father's partner, Nell investigates the murders of two local women, although she soon concludes that her father should be the prime suspect, and that his friends on the police force are covering his tracks. Plagued by doubts, Nell needs to know who killed the women and why. But can she handle the answers she finds—not just about those she loves, but about herself?
