During Prohibition, moonshining is a way of life in rural Bronwyn County, Ohio, and even upstanding Sheriff Lily Ross has been known to turn a blind eye when it comes to stills in the area. When a 13-year-old almost dies after drinking tainted moonshine, however, Lily joins forces with moonshiner Marvena Whitcomb to find out who is responsible. But in this third outing (after The Hollows), it cannot be a coincidence when shady businessman George Vogel returns to town with his new wife, Fiona, and Lily's former brother-in-law Luther Ross, an agent for the Bureau of Prohibition. As a blizzard closes in, Lily finds that many around her seem to be betraying those they hold dear, and that Fiona too may have an agenda of her own.
