From the labyrinthine paths and serene squares of the Gothic Quarter to the stunning art nouveau architecture of the Eixample, Barcelona is a place of irresistible charm. Throughout this Catalan city by the sea, dazzling signage is everywhere: glowing mosaics, stained glass, and intricately carved stonework. And as seen here among hundreds of signs photographed by Louise Fili, even smaller and more modest locales—restaurants, hotels, farmÓcias, and pastisserias—often possess grandiose marquees and emblems, created in the early 20th century Modernisme style.
