Even before Sir Thomas Mallory penned Le Morte D'Arthur, an unknown writer crafted this 13th-century account of the Knights of the Round Table and their quest for the Holy Grail, and E.C. Coleman's translation admirably preserves some of the epic's Middle English stylings. Notably darker than other versions of this mystical adventure, the story features somewhat different characterizations of Arthur, Guinevere, and Sir Kay, adding further depth to one of the most beloved legends of all time.
