"A pile of leaves is like a collage. Each layer adds something new and hides something underneath." Each clear acetate page in this lovely book—produced in conjunction with the Whitney Museum—features a single element in the leaf pile, including some ants, a key, and a mitten. As the pages are turned, prereaders will see the leaf pile deconstructed piece by piece on the right side, and reconstructed on the left. On the final page, all of the components are identified, making this a fine first primer on identifying some common leaves.
