Visiting Kenya prior to the start of his service in the Israeli army, Ofir Drori became enchanted with the entire continent. Setting out on foot from Kenya through Ethiopia, Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Cameroon, Drori discovered how corruption and violence were allowing Africa's wildlife to fall by the wayside, and so he formed the Last Great Ape Organization (LAGA). There was absolutely no enforcement of anti-poaching or wildlife laws until LAGA began staging espionage-style raids and bringing these criminals to justice, and as Drori recounts here, he can now see hope for the future of Africa's endangered animals.
