Leaving her native Australia, Kiki Button is still grieving over her mother's death, but she slips back into her bohemian life in Paris in hopes of reviving her high spirits. Even as Kiki talks politics with Hemingway and sips tea with Gertrude Stein, she is found by Dr. Fox, her former spymaster, who insists that she work for him once more. Using her gossip columnist connections for her mission, Kiki encounters the men who would bring Europe into another war, but in this follow-up to April in Paris, 1921, she also meets people who can help to answer her burning question: why did her mother leave England all those years ago?
