Before and during World War II, there were many attempts on Adolf Hitler's life, any one of which could have succeeded and the whole of human history might have taken a different course. With contributions by Peter Tsouras, Nigel West, Adrian Gilbert, and others, the essays here are alternate histories, looking back on failed assassinations of Hirohito, Winston Churchill, Joseph Stalin, Charles de Gaulle, and Josip Broz Tito, and envisioning the likely chain of events that would have followed if the attempts had succeeded.
