Paris has always been a fundamentally feline city, its cats celebrated by writers and artists. A costume and scenery designer for plays and operas worldwide, Lila De Nobili eventually devoted herself to creating sensitive, perceptive images of cats. The dozens of watercolors and sketches here include portraits of kitties following a butterfly, perching on a bookshelf, fleeing indoors during a storm, and dressed as fictional characters, but best of all are the cats who are sleeping on a windowsill, by the radiator, under a blanket—dozing off pretty much anywhere and everywhere.
