Orphaned at the age of three, Edvard always knew that his parents' death was somehow connected to the fate of his grandfather's brother, Einar. One day a coffin is delivered to the farm specifically for his grandfather, although he isn't dead--a meticulous work of art with the hallmarks of a certain master craftsman--raising the thought that Einar isn't dead after all. To unravel the mystery of his parents' deaths, Edvard follows a trail of clues from Norway to the battlefields of France, where he seeks a very unusual inheritance.
