Over the years, Sherlock Holmes has been subject to many interpretations, but there's something refreshing about these 15 stories by Lyndsay Faye, a traditionalist who can write a Holmes tale worthy of Arthur Conan Doyle himself; indeed, many of these stories were published in The Strand, the magazine that introduced Sherlock. Intriguingly, Faye's span Holmes's career, and so from the master detective's early years, here is "The Case of Colonel Warburton's Madness," while from his post-Reichenbach Falls career, here are "The Empty House" and "The Adventure of the Memento Mori." Holmes tried to retire, yet he nonetheless donned his deerstalker hat for "The Adventure of the Lightless Maiden" and "Notes Upon the Diadem Club Affair."
