Description
The Sierra Club's 1928 annual outing or "High Trip" was Ansel Adams's first as official photographer. What he encountered in the Canadian Rockies impressed him deeply, and he wrote to his wife Virginia, "These mountains are breathtaking—utterly different than anything we have seen. The peaks and forest and 'tone' fulfill almost every ideal I have had of what 'my' mountains could be.... These are the great mountains we dream about." During climbs through Mount Robson Provincial Park and Jasper National Park, taking in natural wonders like Amethyst Lake, Emperor Falls, and Bennington Glacier, Adams began to find his vision as a serious creative photographer, and the 45 images in this album document his remarkably formative journey.
