Description
In the near future, a new Ice Age wipes out all life on Earth, except for the passengers aboard the Snowpiercer, a train powered by a perpetual motion machine. Eager to escape the dismal poverty of the rear cars and guided by the holy man Gilliam (the late John Hurt), Curtis Everett (Chris Evans) leads an uprising against Minister Wilford (Ed Harris), Deputy-Minister Mason (Tilda Swinton), and the elites holed up in the front of the train. When he gets there, will Everett be able to resist the lure of an easy life at the expense of his comrades? Or will the conflict destroy this entire microcosm? Adapted from the French graphic novel Le Transperceneige, this 2013 thriller is Korean director Bong Joon-ho's first English-language feature.

"[This movie] sucks you into its strange, brave new world so completely, it leaves you with the all-too-rare sensation that you've just witnessed something you've never seen before ... and need to see again."Entertainment Weekly

"[Although] the movie is playfully postmodern in its pastiche of styles and its mingling of sincerity and self-consciousness, there is also something solidly old-fashioned about the way it tells its story.... Planetary destruction and human extinction happen a half-dozen times every summer. It's rarely this refreshing, though."NYTimes
