A struggling artist named Ellen has been coping with an ex-lover, his psychiatrist, and an ex-husband—not to mention depression—in this 1979 novel by artist and musician Elaine Kraf. Then Ellen becomes subject to unexpected "radiances," and finds that she is sharing a body with the free-spirited, anarchic Esmerelda, Princess of New York's Upper West Side. Somehow, this odd couple will have to find a way to co-exist, and maybe even help each other.
"When a novelist uses words as if they were sacred love, what is written becomes poetry. Elaine Kraf is a poet."—NYTimes
