The trio Arcadia has adapted Italian baroque composer Francesco Veracini's Sonatas for Violin and Basso Continuo, op. 1 (1721) for recorder (Christoph Ehrsam), tenor viola da gamba (Eunice Brandão), and harpsichord (Attilio Cremonesi).
"A figure of fantasy equal to that of his violin music, Francesco Maria Veracini nevertheless doesn't seem to have captured the popular imagination of our time so successfully as did his contemporaries Giuseppe Tartini and Pietro Locatelli, or even Francesco Geminiani. That's a shame, because his music reveals a lively intelligence and impish sprightliness, alternating with affecting cantilena, that will seem to many to exceed similar qualities in the music of Locatelli (the vigor) and Tartini (the operatic vocal quality)."—Fanfare
