Most frequently associated with art worlds in Spain, Paris, and New York, Pablo Picasso also had lifelong connections with Britain, and an enormous effect on British modernism. This exhibit catalogue, illustrated with more than 160 color photos and reproductions, explores Picasso's influence by comparing particular works to those of seven British contemporaries—Duncan Grant, Wyndham Lewis, Ben Nicholson, Henry Moore, Francis Bacon, Graham Sutherland, and David Hockney. It offers a little-known aspect of Picasso's career while at the same time redrawing the mental image of British culture in the 20th century.
