The boss of the Acme Printing Company has a goddess for a secretary! That would be Marilyn Monroe, in one of her earliest roles. Hollywood had yet to learn how her incandescent allure could light up the screen for an entire picture, but what there is of her is choice. Based on a story by Paddy Chayefsky, this 1951 comedy stars Monty Woolley as a 65-year-old printer who impersonates the president of Acme's parent company to have the forced retirement policy repealed. (Interestingly, Chayefsky later mined Monroe's biography for the 1958 film Goddess, starring Kim Stanley.) The always-welcome Thelma Ritter and Constance Bennett play their parts with élan. Among the bonus features are trailers for the Monroe films All About Eve, As Young as You Feel, Bus Stop, Don't Bother to Knock, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, How to Marry a Millionaire, Let's Make It Legal, Let's Make Love, Love Nest, Monkey Business, Niagara, River of No Return, The Seven Year Itch, There's No Business Like Show Business, and We're Not Married.

"Fine comic performances enhance the script. Three stars."—VideoHound's Golden Movie Retriever

"An amiable satire of corporate bureaucracy, with a first-rate cast."—Leonard Maltin

"Quite as refreshing as the story is the manner in which it is played, with the whole cast working adroitly as a selfless and perfectly balanced team. Monty Woolley as the 65-year-old is at the center, of course, and he does a fine job of playing a dauntless oldster, with spirit yet restraint. Thelma Ritter and Allyn Joslyn are delightful as his daughter-in-law and son, Jean Peters is nice as his granddaughter and David Wayne is funny as her beau. Albert Dekker is mighty amusing as a fatheaded small-business boss, Marilyn Monroe is superb as his secretary and Constance Bennett does grandly as his neglected wife. In fact, there is so much that is pleasant about this gay, shrewd and unaffected film, tossed off with a wink and chuckle, that you should try not to let it slip by. If they're going to make jokes about aging, this is the sort we prefer."—NYTimes
