This album was conceived as a birthday present for Ukranian-American singer Oksana Sowiak's close friend and frequent collaborator, famed illustrator and writer Tomi Ungerer. Ungerer regularly creates artwork for Sowiak's albums (some of it quite bawdy!), and he can be heard on several spoken word selections. The mix of material on the 22 tracks includes a group of Yiddish songs, a set of children's songs in German, and a set of adult German songs, such as Friedrich Hollaender's "Falling in Love Again" from the film The Blue Angel and Oscar Straus's "Warum soll eine Frau kein Verhältnis haben?" ("Why should a woman have no relationship?").
"Sowiak is more than vamp, chansonette, or art song singer: her sensual voice resonates between the modes of irony and melancholy."—Badische Zeitung
