A young musician who loves traditional church music, Tobias Frank indulges his concurrent passion for 20th-century organ works on this disc. Marcel Dupré's Deuxième Symphonie por orgue, Op. 26 has an appropriately massive sound, which finally takes flight in a stormy toccata; Dupré's Deux Esquisses pur orgue, Op. 41 is also included. Don't be fooled by the title Riff-Raff for Organ—this composition by Messiaen pupil Giles Swayne is a tour-de-force showcasing all the possibilities of the instrument. Frank Bridge's gentle Adagio in E and Joseph Jongen's mercurial Sonata Eroïca round out the set.
"There is a real fire in this playing. Frank plays with a strong sense of flair."—Gramophone
