Description
"Perhaps the most thrilling display of ensemble acting in all of American film," said the LATimes' Kenneth Turan of 1951's A Streetcar Named Desire, seen here in director Elia Kazan's original version. Along with Marlon Brando, Tennessee Williams's powerful, Pulitzer Prize–winning drama co-starred Vivien Leigh, Kim Hunter, and Karl Malden, winning four Academy Awards. In 1953, Brando commanded the screen again as Marc Antony in Shakespeare's Julius Caesar, with James Mason and John Gielgud. In The Teahouse of the August Moon (1956), he showed a flair for comedy, bucking military men Glenn Ford and Paul Ford to build a teahouse, complete with geishas! John Huston directed Brando and Elizabeth Taylor in 1967's Reflections in a Golden Eye, an adaptation of the Carson McCullers' novel in which illicit passions play out against the hidebound mores of a Georgia army base. Many introductions, featurettes, and photo galleries will enhance your enjoyment of these classics featuring one of the most electrifying film actors of all time.
