The principal oboe of the Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra, Lajos Lencsés is backed by harpist Rachel Talitman as he performs opera composer Gaetano Donizetti's aria-like Andante Sostenuto, Three Nocturnes (Op. 50) by Robert Nicolas Charles Bochsa (who became Royal harpist to the French court in 1813), Two Nocturnes by French composer Henri Brod, and Antonio Pasculli's Homage to Bellini, which uses the cor anglais (English horn) and includes themes from Vincenzo Bellini's operas Il Pirata and La Sonnambula.
"Pasculli and Brod were oboe virtuosi and Bochsa was a harp virtuoso and son of an oboe player, so writing for the instrument was almost inevitable in each case…. Lencses makes a wonderfully rich and mellifluous sound on both the oboe and cor anglais."—Musicweb International
"Animated, very beautiful sound and brilliant in the virtuoso passages…. A graceful treasure."—Fono Forum
