Dutch cellist Harriet Krijgh performs the two authenticated cello concertos of Joseph Haydn, using her own cadenzas. Discovered in 1961, the first (Hob.VIIb/1 in C Major) is a blithe piece that has since become a staple of the cello concerto repertoire. The D Major concerto (Hob.Viib/2) is sunny as well. In 2008, Krijgh won first prize at the Antonio Janigro International Cello Competition and the Fidelio Competition in Vienna. In 2012 she was awarded two prizes at the renowned Amsterdam Cello Biennale.
"[Krijgh] and her just as youthful colleagues play [these pieces] with beauty of tone and technical polish…. These are lyrical and often amusing interpretations, where the orchestral phrasing balances effectively with the soloist, recorded in clear, resonant sound."—American Record Guide
