Description
The great theater director Sir Peter Hall was tapped for this 1977 staging, recorded live from the Glyndebourne Opera Festival. Hall updated the setting to the 18th century, and his production of Mozart's tragic "opera of all operas" (as E.T.A. Hoffman once called it), was widely praised. Branisteanu, a lyrical Donna Anna … delivers an estimable 'Non mi dir', despite the difficult coloratura, while Elizabeth Gale is an outspoken Zerlina."—Rhythm
