Description
Doris Day once remarked that saying lines for the camera was not unlike interpreting song lyrics, and she brought a seemingly effortless ease, charm, and expertise to both. In Please Don't Eat the Daisies (1960), Day contends with four unruly boys, a monstrosity of a country fixer-upper, and a sardonic drama-critic hubby (David Niven). Day entered her eighth consecutive year as a top-10 box-office star when she boarded The Glass Bottom Boat (1966), a truly hilarious blend of romantic comedy, musical numbers, and the era's burgeoning spy-movie genre. Day plays Jennifer, a Girl Friday at an aeronautics think tank; when colleagues suspect she's a spy, Jennifer chaotically sets out to clear her name.

"Please Don't Eat The Daisies is a light and frothy comedy, and boff family fare.... Day delivers lustily and Niven makes hay with his critic's portrayal."óVariety

"[Boat] includes some of Hollywood's best farceurs, among them John McGiver, Paul Lynde and Edward Andrews. The best of the lot, however, is a newcomer, Dom De Luise, as a portly, bird-brained spy."óNYTimes
