Description
Best known for using light and sound to create immersive, interactive environments, Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster turned Tate Modern's Turbine Hall installation space into a dystopian science fiction world. As shown here in 75 color and black and white photographs, the French artist's TH.2058 depicts a London of the future, where nonstop rain and flooding has necessitated the use of the Tate as a shelter, complete with dozens of bedframes. Suggesting that the rain has caused some of the museum's sculptures to grow uncontrollably, Gonzalez-Foerster has created larger replicas of works by Alexander Calder, Bruce Nauman, and Claes Oldenburg, with the focus on Louise Bourgeois's monstrous spider Maman. Along with an interview with the artist, the book's essays include diverse and engaging contributions from Enrique Vila-Matas, Luc Lagier, and Jeff Noon.
