With her comic timing and her girl-next-door charm, Jessie Matthews was one of Britain's best-loved stars in the late 1930s; in this 1932 film she portrays Annette Marquand, a businessman's daughter who runs away to Paris to escape an arranged marriage on the morning of the ceremony. After Annette is robbed at the train station, wealthy samaritan Max (Owen Nares) lets her stay with him for 24 hours, but the arrival of Max's fiancée (Carol Goodner) makes for an uncomfortable situation. When Annette leaves, detectives are on her trail—and so is a smitten Max.

"Ultimately, Matthews steals this bright little comedy. She has an effervescence and genuine likeability, which keep you watching. She sings a couple of numbers rather well, including one with the great Carroll Gibbons and his Savoy Orchestra, 'I'm Looking For You'."—Eye for Film (UK)
