Celebrating the 100th birthday anniversary of author, editor, and publisher Charlotte Zolotow (and introduced by her daughter Crescent Dragonwagon), here are more than two dozen of Zolotow's lovely poems for all ages, set with lively, vividly colored paintings. Each season of the year is represented by six or seven poems, exploring the continuous change all around us—from spring, with birds building nests, to summer with its abundance of roses, autumn with crisp falling leaves, and winter with bright brushes of snow—while at the same time finding reassurance in the cyclical nature of life.
"The poems' brevity, repetition, and intimate focus on small discoveries, observations, and sensations make them especially well suited to readers encountering poetry for the first time.... Likewise, the bright palette and cheery atmosphere of [Tiphanie] Beeke's scenery will leave children anticipating picnics, seaside jaunts, Halloween chills, and the first snow of winter."—Publishers Weekly
