Penniless veteran Georges Duroy (Robert Pattinson) charms his way into the Parisian high society of the 1880s, in this 2012 adaptation of Guy de Maupassant's novel. Even as he exploits his hold over two married women (Uma Thurman and Kristin Scott Thomas) to gain a foothold as a writer, Duroy and the passionate Clotilde (Christina Ricci) fall in love, and the unscrupulous Duroy finds that he too can fall victim to betrayal, and he may find it difficult to maintain his many amours in such a cutthroat milieu. A behind-the-scenes featurette is also included.
"[If this film] is any indication, Pattinson should be known as a very good actor.... It's a pleasure to watch him onscreen and wait for the explosion."—San Francisco Chronicle
