At the time of her death in 1952, the author of Goodnight Moon and The Runaway Bunny left behind a trunkful of unpublished manuscripts; a follow-up to 2014's Goodnight Songs, these poems for readers and listeners up to 6 from the pen of Margaret Wise Brown follow the changing of the seasons with humor and poignancy. Each poem is visualized by a different illustrator, with Floyd Cooper's oil painting conveying the joy of youth in "To a Child," David Small creating a madcap scene between rabbit and pig in his drawing for "Bunny Jig," and Frank Viva's digital illustration for "Snowfall" picturing a mysterious winter world. Brown intended for the poems to be set to music, and on the CD included here, Tom Proutt and Emily Gary perform all 12 of them as inspired acoustic songs.
"Whether read or sung aloud, this essential collection is made to be shared—and no doubt will be, again and again."—School Library Journal
