In October 1942, the first Little Golden Books were launched as picture books selling for pocket change. They quickly became fixtures of American childhood, and this handsome slipcased set contains a dozen Golden Books spanning 75 years of publication. Among the favorites here are The Poky Little Puppy by Janette Sebring Lowrey and Gustaf Tenggren, The Sailor Dog by Margaret Wise Brown and Garth Williams, I Can Fly by Ruth Krauss and Mary Blair, and Richard Scarry's I Am a Bunny. Two books are unique to the set: Alice and Martin Provensen's original illustrations have been restored to Katie the Kitten, while Margaret Wise Brown's The Whispering Rabbit has been given lovely new illustrations by Annie Won.
