On March 9, 1977, Washington, DC, came under attack. Seven men stormed the headquarters of B'nai B'rith International, taking 100 employees hostage inside, while other forces attacked the Islamic Center of Washington and the municipal government's District Building. Led by former jazz drummer Hamaas Abdul Khaalis, the Black Muslim Hanafimovement demanded the banning of a new Hollywood epic about the life of Muhammad.
