An extremely ambitious composition, Hector Berlioz's 1837 Requiem requires hundreds of singers and instrumentalists. It also demands quite a lot from the conductor, and on this 1969 recording, Maurice Abravanel is up to the task. On the flipsides of the two CDs in this set are DVD features, including the entire recording in surround sound and stereo, plus video featurettes on Abravanel and Berlioz.
