He's been reading from them for years, yet few of David Sedaris's fans have actually seen the elaborate, three-dimensional, mixed-media diaries that he has been crafting for four decades. Here his longtime friend Jeffrey Jenkins—an artist and graphic designer—interprets these remarkable collaged constructions in a volume of artwork and images from the original diaries, accompanied by some of Sedaris's written entries. Family photos might appear next to medical documents; a punched paper test card could obscure a wrestling photo, or a burger wrapper. Jenkins includes numerous interactive pages, as well as a gallery of diary album covers, some painted by other friends of Sedaris.
