When Franklin Roosevelt outlined "Four Freedoms" in his 1941 State of the Union Address, it resonated with Norman Rockwell, who powerfully depicted these ideals in a series of paintings. As this exhibition catalog demonstrates, these images rallied the public behind the War effort and became a national movement. Also explored here are other works by Rockwell and his contemporaries Ben Shahn, Dorothea Lange, and Gordon Parks, along with historical documents, photographs, videos, and artifacts.
