Buying a 15-acre farm deep in the Pinelands of South Jersey, Laurie Zaleski was planning to finally make her mother's dream come true by opening an animal shelter. Two weeks before moving day, Laurie's mother died, and although she had no personal desire to give up her business career, she nonetheless decided to do anything necessary save abused and neglected animals. In telling the story of her mom, Laurie also tells the wry, bittersweet tale of how she established the Funny Farm Animal Rescue.
