It is a fraught season for the Stockwell Park Orchestra. After their benefactor Mrs. Ford-Hughes is flattened by a guest conductor dying on the podium, they lose her generous financial backing, leaving the orchestra's fate in limbo. Erin hatches a plan involving their semi-reliable leader Fenella playing a priceless Stradivari cello—which then goes missing. Meanwhile their regular conductor Joshua can't decide which affair to commit to, and manager David's nervous tic returns with every treasurer report. Classical music is anything but sedate in this hilarious first outing for Isabel Rogers's vividly imagined London amateur orchestra.
