Some believe that their horns have magical properties (despite being made simply of unremarkable keratin), and they sell for $16,000 a kilogram. The situation with regard to this corrupt, illegal war on wildlife is critical, argues Grant Fowlds. Here he explains his own efforts toward protecting these iconic animals, not only leading today's fight against armed poachers, but also working with schoolchildren, communities, and policymakers in the longer term.
