Fondly recalled for the award-winning novels Transit of Venus and The Great Fire, Shirley Hazzard (1931-2016) was just as fascinating as her fictional worlds. Drawing on archival materials and interviews, Brigitta Olubas shows us the places of Hazzard's childhood in Depression-era Sydney; her youth in Hong Kong, New Zealand, and London; and her years in 1950s New York, working at the United Nations and The New Yorker.
