New York, 1907: Now that she's no longer a private detective, Molly Murphy Sullivan is looking forward to time with family. She accompanies some friends to Ellis Island to help distribute clothing to new immigrants in need. That evening Molly's policeman husband Daniel informs her there was a murder on the island that day, and the main suspect looks much like her. The circumstances are eerily similar to when Molly herself arrived on Ellis Island, and in this 18th case (after The Ghost of Christmas Past), she can't help but feel that she is meant to clear this woman's name.
