The dynamic energy of modern man and machine as expressed in the printmaking movement of early 20th century England is the focus of this exhibit catalog from Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Futurism, Cubism, Abstraction, the Jazz Age and other factors figured into the works of 14 English artists and their lithographs, etchings, woodcuts, and color linocuts, seen in 162 color illustrations. The exhibition is unusual in its range, combining sober images from World War I battlefields, the playful Art Deco-like linocuts of London's Grosvenor School artists, and images that embrace the accelerating, mechanized speed of modern life between the wars.
